GENERAL ACTIVITIES:

 

All Levels

Reports directly to the Development Practice Manager and is a member of the Development Community

Interfaces with the business owners and other stakeholders in order to determine the technical performance, scalability, and software evolution requirements.

Analyze current architecture for existing constraints, performance and scalability bottlenecks, and outmoded design or architectural components.

Generate system architecture recommendation and migration plan, based on the user needs and other constraints such as cost, schedule, and business risk.

Performs cost-benefit analysis as necessary to determine the best solution for system needs, whether third party off-the-shelf solutions or already developed components.

Generate modular, layered, and flexible system architecture to ensure solutions can be adapted for end users with minimal impact to core architecture.

Shepherd architecture through development and initial implementations to ensure core solution adapts to requirement changes and implementation constraints.

Create prototypes and proofs-of-concept as required to validate architectural solutions and establish model integration patterns.

Collaborates with the Delivery Manager on Application and Solution Architecture.

Communicates technical risk to the Delivery Manager and contributes to mitigation strategies.

Performs in a leadership role as part of the Development Community, driving process improvements, developing best practices and ensuring standards are communicated and adhered to.

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

Skills for All Levels

Strong skills in system architecture, large-scale system design, scalable architectures and high performance computing

Prior experience porting large systems to new architectures with minimal business impact

Familiarity with all the deliverables associated with a SDLC, for both waterfall and Agile methodologies.

Strong Skills in JAVA, JSP, J2EE, ORACLE, SQL, WebSphere, WebLogic, UNIX, IIS, XML and all other related Development tools.

Excellent communication skills

Ability to communicate technical constraints and solutions to business users, and incorporate business requirements in technical design

Ability to generate and develop systems architecture documentation and standards.

Ability to review architectures, identify areas for improvement and recommend migration plans.

Strong understanding of test-driven development.

Willingness to travel to on-site architectural presentations,
requirements reviews, implementations, testing and deployment.

Understand and be conversant in the Client's Business Requirements.

Ability to Direct and Manage a team (2-6) software engineers; ability to mentor and provide performance feedback on developers to the Development Practice Manager

Understand and be conversant in the Client's Business Requirements.

 

Additional Preferred Skills

Strong financial services background, preferred.

Understanding of most concepts, practices and procedures of the banking industry.

Ability to understand Microsoft Project Plan, (MPP).
