SAP SQL Server DBA
Location: Schaumburg, IL
Length: 3 months

Rate: market/HR all inclusive--- Preference to LOCALS
The position holder is responsible for providing team leadership as well as work as part of a team while leading the analysis, design, development and implementation of database strategies and standards for a global organisation. The position would also include working as part of the database group in defining standards for the entire organisation, while performing proactive day-to-day database administration for both business and development groups.
· Perform normal day-to-day DBA activities, including, but not limited to; backup, restore, performance tuning, security management, capacity planning, standards development and enforcement.
· Analyze and implement cost saving self-sustaining solution in the database area.
· Perform database administrative functions within all of the SAP environments.
· Partner with members of the development team on architectural requirements and implementation matters.
· Support and implement database needs for all purchased and in-house written applications.
· Maintain a working knowledge of programming techniques, including; architecture, connectivity, programming languages and tools which have been adopted as the standards.
· Review proposed purchased applications for adherence to standard and the support for software installation, upgrade and on-going usage.
· Be available (on-call) for off hour problems/issues that might arise in the database area, which are deemed critical to business operations.
· Assist in answering end-user questions, during the creation of reports using standard analysis and reporting tools.
Requirements:
· Excellent knowledge of designing and implementing Microsoft SQL Server Databases and Services within a SAP Environment
· Ability to manage multiple high priority tasks assigned from different individuals.
· Attention to detail, adherence to system standards, multi-tasking, and working under pressure.
· Experience with advanced SQL Server functionality, like replication.
· Working knowledge of database systems; database design, and database base implementation / normalization strategies.
· Proven track record of work involving both custom application development and integration of off-the-shelf solutions.
· Ability to work as part of a team seeking new knowledge and shares it proactively.
· Competency in Oracle and other DBMS are desired.
· Good oral and written communication skills, with an ability to manage conflict.
· Ability to convey technical information, both verbally and written.
· Web Development, design and analysis skills are desired.
