Immediate Required: Linux Administrator

The Linux Administrator’s role is to perform the installation, configuration, management and life cycle of Linux systems. Assist in installing and managing existing Windows and Linux Servers, configuration of network resources such as NFS shares and mounts at the client's centers. The candidate must have a minimum of 3+ years of experience supporting Linux servers in a medium to large scale environment. We are looking for an employee who is detail-oriented, has strong communication skills, and is a proactive team member.The initial focus of this position will be to implement, execute, and administer Linux servers to be used for our Hadoop, Talend (B2B), Hypervisors, and monitoring platforms in collaboration with business and technology teams. Candidates are expected to be capable of meeting objectives with very little supervision. We need motivated, independent workers who can work well within a team, effectively communicate thoughts and ideas, and bring a high level of innovation and quality.
Required Skills:
• 5+ years designing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with Linux server farms, application, and networking issues• Experience with web servers such as Apache • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining open-source network monitoring software such as CACTI, Nagios, Network Weathermap, and SmokePing• Scripting experience with related/complementary open source software platforms and languages (e.g. Java, Linux, Apache, Perl/Python/PHP • Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain documentation• Demonstrated ability to define policies and procedures• Demonstrated ability to work with information technology• Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders and customers• Experience building and supporting mission-critical server farms• Knowledge and experience multiple flavors of Linux (preferably Debian and Red Hat), including system installation, administration, and maintenance• ability to deploy, support, and diagnose real issues for a production environment • Proven strong critical thinking skills• Ability to be creative and innovative in a complex technical environment• Ability to work individually or in a close team environment• Excellent written and oral communication skills• Competent in the latest Microsoft Office suite of products• Good communication skills and be able to work as part of a geographically dispersed team• Must have experience building and supporting mission-critical server farms• Ability to work with others well and participate on cross-technology teams• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to create concise but clear documentation
Optional Skills: • 5+ years supporting multi-tier Internet application platforms, especially service-oriented architecture• 5+ years’ experience building and supporting VMware systems• 3+ years’ experience troubleshooting application issues through Cisco routers, firewalls and load balancer• Knowledge of network security, firewalls, switching, and connectivity options• Ability to design, implement, and support high availability solutions• Experience DNS fundamentals• Working knowledge of complex web hosting configuration components, including firewalls, load balancers, web and database servers
