Position Description:
· The Quality Assurance Analyst ensures the quality of the CNN.com family of digital websites, applications, and services.
· This is accomplished by providing guidance, leadership, and execution of quality assurance activities for technically complex, mission-critical, and/or high-profile projects.
· Analyze complex functional requirements, translate them into testcases, and prepare a detailed test plan utilizing knowledge of the functional application.
· Lead peer reviews. Revise plans as necessary throughout the testing cycle and communicate status to the project team.
Responsibilities include:
· Definition and execution of test plans and test cases.
· Definition and execution of automation and load test scripts/test plans
· Ongoing maintenance of all test plans and scripts.
· Documenting and tracking software defects in an issue tracking system.
· Automation of common QA tests & regression tests across platforms (CMS and publishing tools, web, and mobile applications).
· Increase the efficiency and reduce cycle time of QA tasks.
· Close collaboration with software developers to help troubleshoot issues during unit testing.
· Work with Customer Support specialist to help identify and troubleshoot issues reported in the field.
· Coordination w/ research, product, editorial, ad operations, and other customer facing groups.
· Maintenance of the QA lab.
· Other tasks and duties as needed to support the team and/or business
Qualifications:
· BS in Computer Science or technology preferred.
· Five plus years of QA experience with high profile websites, interactive software systems, and mobile websites/applications.
· Strong track record of working with clients to define, plan, and execute an end-to-end test plan from feature functionality testing to end-user workflow testing.
· Proficient in writing and executing test scripts:
· Experience with a test scripting tool such as Test Director or Rational preferred.
· Experience with automated testing tools (Mercury, etc.) preferred.
· Good troubleshooting skills.
· Able to discover and reproduce software defects and to concisely and clearlywrite up and enter test defect reports into issue tracking systems.
· Knowledge of Javascript and how to QA in multiple browser environments.
· Excellent familiarity with consumer and entertainment-based computing products including PC hardware, and PC and Mobile operating systems (RIMM,iOS, Windows, Android).
· Strong understanding of web analytics including analytics business requirements and how they relate to web analytics technology.
· Comfortable multi-tasking on many projects at a time and working efficiently to complete them.
· Able to work effectively in a team environment
· Detail-oriented
· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
· Knowledge of Agile / Scrum is preferred.
