Job Description:
If you are an experienced OOP developer and have some cloud experience or an experienced systems engineer interested in becoming a developer we might have a position for you. We are building an Infrastructure developer's team that will undertake automating our cloud environment. We are currently looking for a lead infrastructure developer that has strong OOP skills to lead development efforts, conduct code reviews, enforce and teach standards, practice and teach TDD and mentor other developers. We are also looking for strong IT Operations professionals that want to lean or know how to develop and have a strong Linux/Unix background. This team will participate in scrum teams and work with other lead developers to help create and update our software products in addition to building our cloud offerings. To be successful in any of these positions please read below for requirements.
We are looking for a results-oriented and quality-focused individual with strong collaboration skills. This position will collaborate with Development, QA, and Operations to maintain high-quality and supportable applications throughout the entire development life cycle.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop code to automate the delivery of applications into our hybrid cloud environment
- 100% datacenter automation
- Contribute to an atmosphere of cross-functional teamwork
- Fully understand the development teams' goals for each development cycle
- Create and maintain documentation of all Dev-Ops processes and systems
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years experience in systems engineering / administration / development
- Strong Systems Engineering and Operations experience
- Experience with Ruby and Puppet or Chef.
- Excellent understanding of GIT.
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services
- Expert with Linux command line.
- Understanding of and some experience developing in Java, PHP, C# or Ruby
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Excellent system-level design ability
- Apache/Nginx/Tomcat configuration experience and regular expressions rewrite rules
- Experience implementing key-value stores; Redis, CouchDB, Cassandra, etc
- Understanding of load testing strategies and best practices
- Understanding of and basic experience with configuration management
- Open-minded and passionate about learning new technologies
What you'll be doing:
- Develop automation applications through TDD
- Be the operational part of a development team
- Automating our hybrid cloud environment
- Debugging run-time issues and solving complex problems
- Helping us scale our platform through automation and application performance
- Build, deploy and destroy servers, from sandboxes to mission-critical clusters
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 5 or more years of experience maintaining or developing an enterprise-level website in various technical capacities
- Experience with Continuous Delivery and Deployment Automation
- Experience with various scripting and programming languages such as Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, JSON, or Java
- Experience with Cloud Computing desirable
- Experience with cloud computing solutions such as GoGrid, Rackspace, Cloudstack, or Amazon EC2 desirable
- Experience with basic HTTP/Application Servers administration and tuning particularly Apache, Nginx and Tomcat
- Comfortable administering database systems and executing SQL scripts
- High-level understanding of software systems design and technical concepts
- Understanding of various SDLC methodologies particularly Agile
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong active listening, conflict resolution, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
