Position: Java Developer

Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 12-18 month contract

 

Java Software Engineer (mid-level to Sr level preferred)

 

This project will be focused on rewriting a suite of Academic Applications that support facility, Staff, and student systems. The current applications are written in Perl and Java and invoke z/OS apps through third-party screen scraping middleware to access the z/OS business logic and its underlying DB2 data. The rewrite will be a Java/J2EE, Spring MVC, Hibernate, Web services, DB2, Tomcat, in a UNIX and Windows environment.

 

The consultant will be responsible for heavy requirements gathering and understanding the legacy business logic then be heavily involved in the technical design and coding the business logic, web services and database layers.

 

These systems are complex to moderately complex web-based academic information systems serving the organization.  Project emphasis is on the A-Z rewrite of the screen-scraper logic to a Java based suite of apps. (Some examples of the systems are: admission, registration, housing, accounts receivable).

 

Must have strong middle tier and backend design and development experience and some front end.
