Business Analyst with Data Management - Contract in New York, NY
Senior Business Analyst with strong Data Management/Analysis skills for a contract assignment with one of our premier insurance clients in, New York, NY. Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst with Insurance background. An Accounting background, or experience with Property / Casualty would be a plus. This position is an addition to staff, and will be part of a team of developers / analysts responsible for the design and implementation of the companys data warehouse environment and related source databases. The Analyst will report to the Manager, EDW, and will work in collaboration with data architects, developers, and key stakeholders to design robust, scalable database and data extraction, transformation and loading solutions. Must be a strong communicator, with the ability to translate technical activities and objectives in a manner appropriate for various audiences and stakeholders during 1-on-1 interactions, meetings and/or conference calls.
Business Analysis & Data Management
Design and implement systems ensuring proper database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures
Work closely with business partners to identify and write technical specifications for data structures and ETLs.
Quickly understand the business issues and data challenges of partners organization and propose solutions.
Implement effective mapping of multiple source databases to centralized SQL Server Client system(s) intended to supply business intelligence and general reporting systems.
Identify and analyze data discrepancies and data quality issues and work to ensure data consistency and integrity.
Ability to see downstream implications resulting from change in scope and/or requirements.
Ensure data standards are reused and enforced across all data-driven initiatives.
Testing and Project Coordination
Lead testing efforts.
Ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.
Effectively manage daily tasks to meet key deliverables within the software development lifecycle.
Use SQL to query database for testing and analysis.
Required Skills:
Bachelors Degree
Experience in ETL and Data Warehouse methods and technologies
Minimum 3-5 years of Informatica experience creating mappings/processes
Demonstrated expertise with SQL and XML
Strong analytical skills, especially data analysis
Preferred Skills:
Insurance or Finance Principles and Data Experience
Previous experience with Dimensional Modeling
