Job Description:

The Server Services Group performs hardware system staging for Netware and SUSE Linux environments and interfaces directly with the Datacenter Infrastructure, Enterprise Technology Production Assurance, and Networking departments. Group responsibilities include:

•        Manages the server fleet – installs patches, installs device drivers, installs third party software, and configures network interfaces

•        Performs hardware troubleshooting, manages spare part inventory, opens trouble tickets, and schedules hardware repairs / service calls

•        Responsible for hardware inventory, database inventory updates, hardware migrations, and removal of end-of-life hardware

•        Responsible for the configuration, testing, implementation, and troubleshooting of Netware and SUSE Linux systems – including web services, Open Enterprise Server 2, Clustering, FTP services,and DNS

•        Coordinates Production environment changes with the Technology Operations Command Center (TOCC) in order to maintain a stable production environment

 

The candidate that we are looking for would have a specialized focus on patching and have a deep understanding of Netware/SUSE Linux system security.

 

Additional Skills:

•        Provides operational support for servers, OS, core applications and hardware and ongoing support for Netware 6.5, eDirectory, ZENworks 7, 11, SUSE Linux 10, Open Enterprise Server 2, Clustering and Novell Identity Manager.

•        Works with IT groups, and third party vendor on upgrades to server components or replacement. Assists application owners, system administrators, PCLAN, Data Security and Service Desk in troubleshooting and resolving issues.

•        Applies new releases from vendors, applies patches, designs, installs and configuration. and maintains server operating system, related utilities and hardware.

•        Works with desktop engineering teams to troubleshoot server issues impacting the desktop environment.

•        Minimum 3+ years' experience supporting large Netware, eDirectory and ZenWorks solutions, previous team leadership a plus. Candidates should have demonstrated troubleshooting experience. The ideal candidate will also have strong verbal and written communication skills including system and project documentation.

 

**This position will be required to be available for 24X7 on call support on a rotational basis and occasional weekend or night work is required.**
