Location: Framingham, MA

Duration: 6 months contract

Job Description:

 

Must have strong VB and COM software development experience!!

The Point-Of-Sale Application Development Team is looking for an experienced software developer to enhance their customer offers in the Retail space.  This individual must exhibit knowledge of software design principles and have strong software development skills with a focus on object-oriented programming solutions.  The ideal candidate will have excellent coding, communication and problem-solving skills.  Additionally, individuals must have experience working in a large team environment as an individual contributor to a software solution that is utilized by 10,000+ associates.   

Candidate will be responsible for collaborating with team members across IT and Business channels to design and develop the customer-targeted offers for Staples.  Individuals must have experience executing detailed designs and coordinating project implementation of distributed applications for users in the United States.  Candidate should be well-versed in all aspects of the software development lifecycle and should have proven experience developing and releasing software and services in a team-based environment. 

• 2+ years solid object-oriented and client/server design and development experience including experience with complex desktop applications. 
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills are required. 
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, coding, unit testing and debugging skills 
• Must have experience with XML based protocols including XLST transformation 
• Experience in a web-service environment with socket communication skills 
• Experience developing software using .NET is required 
• Must have experience in VB and COM software development 
• Recommend experience with UML and pattern-based design 
• Recommend experience with C++ 
• Solid verbal and written communication skills 
• Familiarity with J2EE, UNIX and WebSphere is a plus but not required
