Title: Application Management Services (AMS) - Systems Engineer

Location: MN

Duration: 6-12 Months

Job Description:

Additional notes from the manager:

One additional skills requirement that I should have highlighted this morning is good verbal communication skills.  During the middle of an incident, our engineers regularly participate in/host a conference call to troubleshoot the issue.  Often, upper-level management (directors, VPs) also participate in these calls.  The AMS engineer needs to calmly and confidently communicate the status of the systems based on the diagnostic information he/she has, explain what actions have already been taken, respond to other recommended actions, provide estimated timelines for these actions, etc.

A good Application Services Engineer also likes to help people, so I like to see individuals that participate in volunteer activities outside of work, or have coaching or teaching experience.

To summarize: Send me a Systems or Websphere admin with both windows and unix/Linux exp with some Tomcat in a production support environment  good comm skills. Websphere admins with these skills and fit the rate have done well.

This is not a high level spot.  We just need a good production support person with incident management, change request, and task oriented exp not high level admin exp.  Must have good incident management, change request, and task oriented abilities and exp to be effective. We have a couple mid level websphere admins who are doing a good job in this role. Just need to fit the rate and have the skills in this paragraph and good communication skills. This should help you in your search and evaluation of candidates.
