Position           : Build Engineer

 

Location          : Newark NJ

 

Duration           : 18 Months+

 

The Build Engineer will build and deploy software releases.

 

This position reports to:  IT Release Manager

 

Responsibilities:

- Deploy software releases using Release Management best practices

- Maintain and automate build and deployment processes

- Control branching and merging of code

- Generate release notes for software deliverables

- Maintain source control system

- - Deliver reliable, timely and reproducible builds for project teams by deploying and maintaining Production, QA, and Development environments

- Resolve and repair compilation and deployment errors specifically related to branching, merging, building of source code, and maintenance of daily builds and production releases

- Troubleshooting build and compilation problems

- Documenting the build system

- Integrating the build system with automated test systems

- Work with the various teams to integrate new code into the build system

- Assist in the development of new processes, methodology's and tools.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Experience:

- Requires Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related degree (equivalent work experience may be considered)

- Requires 3-5 years Development, Configuration Management or Release Management experience

 

Additional licensing, certifications, registrations:

 

Knowledge:

- Prefers working knowledge of Windows and UNIX environment

- Requires hands on experience as a Build Engineer

- Requires Working knowledge of system development lifecycle methodology

- Requires Working knowledge of change, release and configuration methodology

 

Skills and Abilities:

- Prefers hands on experience with IBM Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest

- Requires hands on experience with Excel, Word and Visio

- Requires ability to work with globally distributed team

- Requires strong organizational skills

- Requires scripting ability in languages such as BASH, PERL, Korn Shell and VB scripting
