6 Months Contract

SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

Responsibilities:

•
Set up data sharing and disk partitioning
•
Develop database utilities and automated reporting
•
Create shell scripts for task automation
•
Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements
•
Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency
•
Monitor systems and platforms for availability.
•
Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover

•
Restore and recover corrupted databases
•
Install and test upgrades and patches
•
Participate in Deployment to Production Servers
•
Monitor Production Databases (various counters, metrics) and report on health of Production systems
•
Implement security and encryption
•
Provide support for critical situations/production escalations
•
Evaluate and recommend new database technologies
•
Interface between the Systems and Data Center Management team (managed by our customer, Pearson),
the off-shore Engineering delivery team located in India
Requirements:

•
BS/MSCS or equivalent degree with strong academic record preferred.
•
At least 7 years' of relevant experience (including time working towards advanced degrees and/or
experience).
•
At least 3 years' experience in SQL Server 2005/2008
•
Exposure to SSIS, SSAS, MDX, SSRS
•
Previous experience with Data Modeling, Design Patterns, Design Tools, UML, etc
•
Experience in deployment of SQL Server and executing database scripts, configuration changes
•
Experience supporting DBA activities for a large, multi-site software development project
