Job Description:
· The individual will be part of a team that will participate in a variety of Application design and construction activities.
· In addition to work on single applications, the team is heavily involved in the development of both application architectures utilized by multiple applications as well as web services designed for significant reuse.
· The individual will be required to be able to effectively operate in all phases of the systems development lifecycle.
· Some projects will utilize a waterfall methodology and other will be using Agile or other rapid application development methodologies.
· The primary development language is C#, although having both Java and C#/.Net experience is a huge advantage.
· The specific duties and responsibilities are highlighted in more detail below center on working with the teams to develop applications and architectures that are highly performant and scalable. This will include but not necessarily be limited to the kinds of activities outlined below.
· That experience should not be limited to a single system or platform, but ideally would be across many systems, with various architectures and performance characteristics so that a broad base of experience can be brought. While the individual will be expected to be able to interact with senior architects and management, this should be considered a position that is heavily "hands-on".
· Perform application program design.
· Perform application program development, testing and debugging
· Perform Application Architecture design.
· Perform Application Architecture development, testing and debugging
· Perform application program design reviews, both with individual developers and as part of a team.
· Review existing architectures and identify areas for extension or improvement.
· Perform Service design, development, testing and debugging. Could utilize SOAP, REST or other implementations.
· Perform code reviews to identify problem areas.
· Work with architects, developers and support personnel in a collaborative fashion to identify potential changes to improve performance and stability, evaluate those changes individually and as part of the group, select the recommended approach and participate in the implementation.
· Develop simple presentations or papers describing the performance behaviors or characteristics of an application or architecture. Describe the alternatives available for change and any implications.
· Perform reviews of test plans (Including test conditions, test data, test scripts and other relevant artifacts)s. Suggest and document recommended changes and/or highlight missing elements needed to achieve the objectives of the tests.
· Review data models, database schemas and SQL for the purposes of ensuring that these elements; a)Meet the business requirements; b) their performance characteristics are understood; c) that recommended changes can be identified to any of the above components for the purposes of improving performance and stability.
· Perform program development as needed
· Create performance test scripts with tools such as Loadrunner or VuGen.
· Design, create and utilize monitoring approaches, tools, utilities and applications. These could be custom in nature or utilize tools such as HPs BSM, Sitescope, Openview, Oracle OEM, etc..
· Direct or lead small groups in support of the above activities.
