Contract Description
This posting is for a Business Solutions RAD development position in the North American Gas and Power (NAGP) Commercial Analytics & Initiatives IT&S group. We are seeking high-quality versatile candidates who have a positive attitude, are responsive and personable, able to articulate their knowledge and how it translates to a solution, able to learn new technologies quickly, and able to generate new ideas.
Responsibilities
RAD Business Specialists on the Business Solutions team are responsible for design, development, testing, and support of small, medium, and tactical applications for a variety of NAGP business teams (front, mid, and back office). The successful candidate will work in a full software development life-cycle environment leading and participating in requirements gathering, design, development, testing, delivery, and support. The candidate should be able to design and develop applications that meet the business needs but are also in keeping with the broader IT strategy of the group. The role is focused on close collaboration with the business teams to produce innovative, insightful, and timely solutions. Solutions are frequently built with Microsoft Office products, but are locked to prevent design changes by the business users.
Deliverables
Effective interpretation of functional and technical specifications.
Clear, concise capture and documentation of requirements.
Regular, frequent meetings with business users involved with project(s) at hand.
Careful consideration of application/system design and how it fits within the context of existing systems tactical vs. strategic, proper application/system for the requested functionality, possible existing application(s)/system(s) that address requested functionality.
Quick iterative development cycles and deliveries to business users.
Adherence to the development methods and practices established on the team and across NAGP.
Perform functional testing.
Produce concise and relevant user and technical documentation of application/ system/ enhancement when required.
Maintain collaborative relationships within NAGP business users and NAGP IT&S. Share knowledge and best practices, and ensure timely and consistent communication of issues, solutions, and plans.
Assist in UAT efforts with business if required.
Experience & Knowledge
Minimum 5 years of development experience.
2-5 years of system analysis and design experience.
Minimum 2 years experience and skills in developing solutions using VBA with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.
Demonstrated ability in object oriented programming techniques, resulting in applications that are low maintenance and easy to enhance.
Strong general database skills.
Experience and comfort with full lifecycle development.
Experience with energy trading is required - prefer experience working directly with front, mid, and back office personnel.
Excellent problem solving / troubleshooting skills.
High self initiative.
The ability to interface with business clients and other IT personnel in a professional manner.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good planning and organizational skills.
The ability to prioritize and manage their time effectively as they deal with multiple tasks.
Other experience considered a plus are a good working knowledge of the Windows OS, software packaging and deployment skills, and .NET/C# programming.
