Urgent Release Engineer Need in MI, Rate: $55/hr

PROJECT OBJECTIVE:

 

Increase the customer's ease of doing business with Farm Bureau in order to differentiate on customer service, while advocating the trusted advisor role.  Deploy a branded website that educates our customers and offers a servicing alternative when and where they prefer to conduct business.

 

High Level Objectives:

  • Manage and present expanded content for marketing, educational, and branding purposes.
  • Offer online policy viewing, comprehensive bill presentment, claim status and first notice of loss reporting.
  • Improve online payment ability, including expanding the payment options and increasing the ease of use.
  • Offer online policy changes and quoting that enhances and is consistent with the trusted advisor role (notify or involve agent in the process).

 

 

PROJECT TEAM OBJECTIVE & RELATIONSHIPS:

 

The Release Engineer will be responsible for providing a stable framework for application development, testing and deployment.  Establish consistent practices for software installation, automated application builds and deployments, automated regression testing, load and performance testing, and problem responses.

                                                                                              

The Release Engineer will work closely with the Development Team, Testing Team, Project Manager(s), Project Architect(s), the members of the project team, and subject matter experts.

 

Additional relationships may include: Project management, team leaders and team members, staff and management of the information systems division, third-party business partners, service providers, and software vendors. 

 

 

PROJECT TEAM MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Identify specific tasks for area of responsibility and the required sequence of events.

Participate in scheduled meetings.

Ensure that key information is shared with other team members.

Communicate and coordinate joint task completion with other team members.

Provide accurate assessments of time, effort and scope for assignments

Complete tasks assigned by project manager or sub-team leader.

Provide feedback to project manager and/or sub-team leader on task completion, scope, risks, and issues.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Fulfill the responsibilities as a team member for the Public Web Site Services project.

 

Develop services to support software build automation, automated test integration, and results reporting.

 

Use strong technical ability and skills at understanding complex systems in order to drive product releases.  Work with team members to develop a repeatable and predictable release process.

 

Work within Microsoft Windows infrastructure to build and deploy software releases into integration, QA, staging and production environments.  Provide documentation and tracking for releases consistent with the practices put in place by Farm Bureau for approval and deployment.

 

Compile automated test requirements from the developers, and incorporate those tests into an overall set of automated testing.  Execute load and performance testing and report the results to developers and project managers.

 

Perform release coordination and bridge the expertise and communications gap between development and technical support operations.  Employ use of collaboration tools to ensure understanding and cooperation of all involved.

                                                                                                                 

Work under the direction and leadership of X by 2, an architectural partner, to develop deployment and testing features consistent with the project objectives.  Follow the methodology and practices established for the team by X by 2.

 

Demonstrate commitment to the project goals and project team, and maintain a high level of daily engagement. Willingness to communicate effectively and work interactively with other sub-teams and team members to achieve a common goal.

 

Ability to organize and track work for themselves, and coordinate work with other team members.  Able to set and adhere to priorities.  Able to communicate about issues and risks, and participate in taking action to mitigate them.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Excellent organizational skills and English language speaking and writing skills are required.  Prior project experience is required.

 

Additional requirements include:

·         Experience with Production Support for a DB-backed Website in a technical capacity required. This includes care and feeding of production environment and applications, triage of production problems when alerted, etc.  Experience with ASP.NET and SQL Server preferred.

·         Experience and expertise using IDE, Continuous Integration, and Collaboration Tools in the context of .NET development required. Experience with Team Foundation Server, Sharepoint, and Visual Studio preferred.

·         Skill and experience writing scripts to automate build, deployment, and testing of .NET applications required. Experience with MSBuild, Power Shell, TeamBuild, Windows WorkFlow preferred.

·         Experience with Test Automation Tools in .NET development context required. Experience with Microsoft Test Manager, preferred.

·         Experience with SQL required. Experience with SQL Server preferred.

·         Ability to communicate with both technical staff and business areas.

·         Ability to be sufficiently ambulatory to travel within and outside the companies.

·         Ability to use a computer keyboard and possess no significant hearing or speech impairment.
