I need a person who is an expert with the search tool, Lucene – both the elastic and solr versions.  The client is evaluating the tool to see if it is robust enough for what they need it to do.

 

Duration is 4+ months.

Here are the details of what they need to have to do:

 

There are two flavors of Lucene: Solr and Elastic.

Candidate needs to know both, Elastic is newer so fewer users out there.

Candidate will be the team lead and will configure the software, tweak for the environment, test it, run queries, and train the  staff on it.

 

1. client is evaluating various search engine technologies in an effort to standardize across the corporation.

2. They have a number of tools already and the open source tools looked very interesting to them, so they are evaluating everything (current and a few additional search engines).

3. client has lots of content and lots of queries.

4. All data would need to be loaded and converted for Lucene.  They have a few Terabytes of data and they want to know what is the best configuration for that much data.

5. They are not looking at a small proof of concept, they want to really stress the system/set up.  They need to know that Lucene can scale to their needs.

6. All hardware is already in. 

7 Candidate will help construct queries from old systems into the new set up.
