Senior Software Engineer – User Interface

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Long Term

 

Summary:

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, team player, with expertise in development of web-based user interfaces (UIs). The candidate must possess a solid understanding of software engineering practices, and all aspects of the software lifecycle and software architectural design. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Exhibit best-in-class expertise with design, development, implementation, and support of web applications.

·         Understanding of User Experience domain including design methodologies, emerging standards, and essential elements such as information architecture, interaction, information, and visual design.  

·         Demonstrate excellent knowledge of Web-based UI design and development to create rich interactive user interface.

·         Responsible for converting approved designs and functional requirements into Apache Wicket, HTML, CSS, AJAX and JavaScript-coded, with fully developed features.

·         Develop Web applications and test them on various browsers, enhancing and modifying them as necessary to ensure the best experience for the user.

·         Own engineering requirements, design analysis, technical design, applications and platform development, unit testing, support to QA, implementation, and production application support.

 

Experience:

·         Experienced with releasing high quality, scalable, enterprise software applications.

·         Experienced with disciplined software design, development, release build and deployment.

·         Adept with all phases of the software development life cycle, including design analysis, technical documentation, and test.

·         Experienced with Object Oriented Analysis and Design including Design Patterns (Fowler PoEA and GoF) and UML Class Diagrams or Sequence Diagrams.

·         Thorough understanding of scalability/performance and how to achieve in a web application

·         Experienced with design and development processes for medical software systems.

 

 

Aptitude:

·         Strong communication skill that allows for easy exchange of ideas with team members and creation of clear and complete technical documentation.

·         Competent communicator comfortable presenting ideas to the entire team and management.

·         Works easily with other team members and is sensitive to culturally varied global teams.

·         Ability to create detailed engineering design documents from product requirements, and deliver solutions to meet these designs on a reliable schedule and with high quality.

·         Ability to learn new technologies quickly and flexibility to work on various product domains.

 

Technical Skills:

·         Java 1.4 to 6.x

·         Web Application Development

o    Apache Wicket, JSP or JSF and Spring MVC, Tapestry/Struts or SEAM

o    Proficiency with HTML, CSS and JavaScript and AJAX

·         Application Servers

o    Glassfish , Tomcat, JBOSS

·         IDEs, Version Control, Continuous Integration and Testing

o    Eclipse, Netbeans

o    SubVersion, Perforce, CVS or similar

o    Hudson, CruiseControl or similar solutions

o    JUnit, EasyMock, rMock, DBUnit or similar solutions
