Moving to Linux from Windows
Use custom wizard on PowerShell. Converting to Perl as it's OS agnostic.
Specifications:
Intel white box solution – blades, storage, fan, etc.
View storage on 7.2k drives (not flash). 2 storage controllers on back of box, disks
front mounted.
Two blades per box – one for failover.
Each store has 384k uplink (residential quality in some cases).
Deploying local instances of VIEW at each store. (8,100 mini-DC's).
Linux based vCenter (5) for this environment.
vCenter at each location (appliance version).
Job Role:
Will be working on the deploying VMwareView to retail chain's stores and will provide help to automating the process.
The expectation is after the blade and virtual management powers on, the process to
build a View environment is 100%
automated (i.e., turn on box, VMA boots up, creates View, sets up HA, configures IP, and runs)
Start hand building stores out while trying to work out scripts to fully automate process.
While automating, need to make View deployment better, faster, more reliable.
