Position Title: Java/Unix Systems Administrator


Face to Face after initial telephonic

This position will maintain UNIX systems and applications for Wireless division. The ideal candidate will have experience with both Solaris and administrating/installing Java. This position will also include implementing new code and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot network and/or software issues from a server or application perspective.
Work with the developers and networking teams to identify network resources required by the applications.
Understand and implement release notes to deploy new code into the environment.
Identify log messages that should generate monitoring alarms.
Install J2EE containers, such as JBoss and WebLogic, and configure managed resources such as database connection pools.
Deploy Java applications into J2EE containers.
Analyze errors, stack traces, and thread dumps to identify and fix problems.
Install Apache web servers and configure them to talk to JBoss/WebLogic back-ends.
Configure Apache for SSL and install certificates.
Install Solaris and RedHat Enterprise Linux from a Jump Start server or CD-ROM.
Add/update/delete UNIX users and groups.
Use UNIX tools such as netstat, ps, pfiles, lsof, prstat, pstack, truss, gcore, mdb, and dtrace to troubleshoot problems.
Update UNIX routing tables based on networking diagrams.
Configure network interfaces with ifconfig.
Configure IPMP for Solaris or bonding for Linux for highly-available network interconnects.
Apply operating system and application patches.
Request/test firewall rules and load balancer VIPs from the Networking teams.
Capture network traffic with snoop/tcpdump and analyze the capture to troubleshoot problems.
Request SAN storage from Storage team, then attach to storage and create/mount filesystems.
Document systems with Visio.

Qualifications:

5+ years of Solaris administration.
5+ years J2EE administration in a UNIX environment.
5+ years JBoss or WebLogic.
5+ years working with UNIX in a networked environment.
5+ years of TCP/IP networking.
Experience with Solaris Zones is a plus.
Java/C development experience is a plus.
Experience with CRM, BRM, AIA, OCSG, UIM, ASAP, and POS is a plus.
