Job Description

 

 

Candidate should have in-depth knowledge in SCM process with following experience:

-              developing installation software to meet the Windows platform installation

-              developing installation program to install Unix/Linux machine software

-              developing installation program to install DB components(Sql, Stored procs, data etc)

 

Candidate will use Microsoft power shell scripts and Team city (or cruise control) to develop/setup the installer programs.

 

 

Technology:   SCM, Microsoft Power Shell script,  Knowledge in Team city or cruise control

 

Candidate must have experience in developing/setup following installation process/tool :

•             Gather setup and installation requirements from all lead developers and operations team

•             Understanding client deployment environments

•             Developing Windows installation Packages

•             Create environment from scratch by installing windows server, IIS, .net 4.0, etc.

•             Developing installer application to install the components in windows and Linux/Unix environments

•             Developing tool to install DB components

•             Windows components must be installed using a setup.exe type automated install wizard.  No software should be delivered that requires the installer to copy files to different parts of the machine.

•             The installation process needs to populate the “Add or Remove Programs” snap-in in the control panel for Server 2003 or “Programs and Features” for Server 2008.

•             The installer tool needs to reflect the addition of new programs and patches as well as their version number.

•             Installer tool able to manage the configuration files(ex: web.config and properties files)

•             On a new install, the process should make configuration suggestions and build the configuration files based on prompting.  This is especially the case if the configuration files are pointing to a known directory structure such as the application code or log files

•             The installation instructions shall specify how to install the package on a new machine, as well as how to upgrade to a new version if applicable.

•             The ability to remove the package and roll back to the previous version of the software shall be supported..

•             The installer tool shall identify any package dependencies and / or pre-requisites for installing and running the software.

•             Documenting the installer tool features and functions and preparing a manual

•             Provide training to operations team and developers on how to use/maintain the installer tool
