Client is searching for a Developer (Trading Systems) for a contract position with one of our premier financial industry clients in New York, NY.

 

The application is an in-house developed business-critical global risk application. It is currently used by the global Interest Rate and CVA desks. Two major multi-year projects are starting: one to scale up application to run certain reports across a large proportion of the bank's derivatives trades, to meet Basel III regulatory requirements, and one to migrate the business onto the application from their current IT system. The role is within the core team developing functionality to allow the system to scale up and to meet the functional requirements of these projects.

 

The successful candidate will be part of a team of developers tasked with designing, developing and delivering functionality in the core architecture of the risk system application.

 

Responsibilities: Possess a desire to learn the Fixed Income Derivatives business - multiple asset classes

Embrace interaction with business groups (e.g. traders, quantitative analysts) and other IT teams

Familiarize with the company technology and infrastructure

Design and implement new functionality in the application

Ad-hoc system analysis and investigation problem solving

Take ownership

Communicate design ideas and take part in peer reviews

Utilize Test Driven and Agile development techniques

Participate actively and constructively in team discussions

Understand the current applications and business processes, identify extensions and new functionality

 

Required Skills:

A bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics or a Mathematical Science

At least four years of experience as a software engineer in a business focused development environment with a working understanding of the full development life cycle.

The ability to take ownership of issues and follow to resolution

An innovative approach and methodical analytical style of problem solving

Strong design and development skills in C#.Net and have a solid background of object and component oriented design techniques.

SQL Server and/or Oracle RDBMS knowledge

Previous experience in developing robust multi-tier applications and be familiar with technologies such as XML and server-based architectures.

Fluent English

Preferred Skills:

Financial Mathematics or Quantitative Finance experience to degree or postgraduate level

Front Office experience in Fixed Income and/or Derivative products.

Microsoft Sql Server Analysis Services (SSAS)

Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) services

Grid computing platforms, preferably
