Position: QA Tester

Location: Columbia, MD

Duration: 6 months+

Max Pay: $40/hr on C2C

Overview:

Client  has 15+ openings for QA Testers / Engineers to do a mixture of automated and manual web-based testing in an Agile SCRUM environment working with Gherkin (Java-based automated tool), Jbehave, and Quality Center.  The QA Engineers will be responsible for ensuring test plans and test cases follow all standards and are appropriate on a project by project basis. 

 

Applicants must have 4+ years of Software Testing, have some exposure with Agile / SCRUM Development Methodologies, be experienced with front end Financial Services Web applications, proficient with Quality Center, and financial services experience. 

 

 

Client & Project Details

Our client is one of the largest wealth management financial services firms in the world, and provides brokerage, mutual fund and consumer financial products and services.  They are in the beginning phases of an extremely large scale, high profile new front end website development project (website gets 15,000 transactions per second) that will be revolutionary to the financial industry.  This team will be creating a user experience that hasn't been done in this capacity before!  You'll be working with Java and DOJO technologies in an Agile Scrum environment to create a unique user experience.   The system has already been set up; therefore, very little configuration & deployments will be involved.  You will be able to dive right in and be a part of something that will change the marketplace.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Participation in peer reviews of test plans and test cases

·         Identify risks and prepare mitigation plans

·         Assist QA and Release Leads in preparing implementation timelines

·         Develop testing plans and strategies

·         Assist QA Leads in determining appropriate test environments

·         Work with business analysts to develop business requirements/stores and acceptance criteria

·         Create agile test cases according to QA standards

·         Perform problem solving and root cause analysis when defects occur

·         Update Quality Center requirement traceability, test cases, test sets and defects according to QA standards

·         Collaborate with application development in defect resolution

·         Participate on continuous improvement efforts within the QA organization

·         Support and provide constructive feedback on existing processes and standards

·         Research and evaluate new testing technologies and tools

·         Become technically competent in all technologies used by Application Development organizations

·         Evaluate and recommend process or technical changes to partner organizations

·         Use positive influence to engage EPM and business partners

·         Provide guidance around automation strategies, working with the QA Architect and App/Dev

 

Requirements:

·         5+ years experience (academic or direct experience, including best practices) in the IT field.

·         Demonstrates a solid understanding of product lifecycles as well as how technical systems work and interact

·         Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving/decision making skills

·         Must be detail oriented

·         Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently with minimal error and guidance

·         Sense of urgency and commitment to providing the best support possible to both internal and external clients

·         Ability to communicate with all levels of associates in the organization well as solid facilitation skills

·         Experience with front end financial services web applications to include online trading and/or CRM required

·         Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required

 

Plusses:

·         Experience interfacing with financial services vendor applications preferred

·         Experience writing Agile test cases using Gherkin language strongly preferred

·         Financial services experience strongly preferred
