Senior Database Architect - Oracle at Harrisburg, PA

This position will implement Oracle 11g upgrade, with Oracle Spatial, Dataguard and Golden Gate in a Windows server environment.  The candidate will be expected to step into an existing project and get up to speed quickly.

 

The consultant will be responsible for the following:

 

For the duration, the selected candidate will participate in the following activities:

 

1.  Oracle 10g Support: 

-Provide continuity in support of Oracle due to shortage of staff. 

-Perform security updates for Oracle database software. 

-Provide Oracle Dataguard support.

-Provide Oracle Spatial support and transfer spatial knowledge to DBA staff. 

-Check system performance and present problems and solutions.

-Maintain Oracle backups, exports, imports, and other scheduled tasks.

 

2.  Implement Oracle 11g: 

-Design project plan for Oracle 11g implementation.  Create database design.

-Perform database installation for Oracle 11g and decommision of Oracle 10g.

-Design, install, configure, and implement Oracle GoldenGate.

- Design and create database backup and recovery procedures utilizing RMAN and exports.

 

3.  Document and mentor DBA staff on all procedures taken.
