Responsibilities:
The Decision Support Data and Infrastructure Services (DSDIS) team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer whose primary role will be application development & maintenance of programs to extract data from a variety of operational sources for loading into the Data Warehouse and to integrate/aggregate data for reporting and analytical needs.
The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for developing prototypes and performing complex application coding and programming. This position interprets end-user business requirements to develop and/or modify technical design specifications for off-the-shelf and/or custom-developed applications. The Senior Software Engineer also analyzes and reviews software requirements to determine feasibility of a design within time and cost restraints. In addition, this position performs unit and integration testing and assists with developing unit test scripts. The Senior Software Engineer provides instruction and guidance to less senior team members on new tasks and assignments.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
· 3+ years of experience in Data Warehousing and working in a large scale computing and/or networking environment
· 3+ years of experience with SQL and the UNIX operating system
· Experience using SAS as a data extract, transform, and load (ETL) tool
· Prior application and database performance tuning experience, prior production support experience, and practical experience implementing ETL concepts such as change data capture and versioning
· Must be versed in multiple programming languages
· Knowledge and/or prior use of tools such as Teradata, Tivoli WorkLoad Scheduler is a plus
· Candidate needs to operate from both a big-picture and a tactical viewpoint
· Candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills for technical and non-technical content
