Client: Verizon
Location: Irving, TX
Duration: One year plus
Rate: 50-53$/hr (can go little bit higher if consultant is really strong)

Job Description:
• Ensure high availability, optimum performance, and assured security of the Oracle 11g RAC environments
• Perform code migration in accordance with established change management processes
• Enforce version control and change management processes to support internal and external audit requirements
• Participate in technical interchange meetings
• Adhere to contribute to and enforce development standards
• Work with the development teams to optimize ongoing performance
• Proactively monitor and report on system performance
• Provide trend analysis to enable informed decision regarding capacity planning and optimization strategies
• Escalate issues to development teams, other support organizations and third parties as appropriate.
• Manage improvement and maintenance of the supported platform to include patches and upgrades inside limited maintenance windows which may include weekends
• Perform administration activities including backup and recovery
• Contribute to the development projects by providing operational and environmental requirements
• Design the architecture and build out the physical environments to support all application development efforts
• Participate in and/or lead production troubleshooting, testing, optimization, performance tuning, and process automation efforts
• Participate in and/or lead technical planning and architecture sizing
• Participate in code reviews and ensure systems implementations occur in accordance with established procedures.
Skills / Knowledge
• 7+ years Oracle DBA administration experience on day to day activities
• Experience with large databases with high transaction volume in a RAC configuration
• Demonstrated knowledge of interdependencies between Oracle security and Linux security
• Expertise in using Stats Pack, AWR Reports Analysis and Performance Tuning.
• Experienced on Oracle Advanced Concepts like Parallel Execution, Using Optimizers, Flash Recovery, Advanced Compression etc.
• Oracle Certification preferred
• 4 year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
• Working knowledge of networks
• Working knowledge of Linux OS
• Working knowledge of software version control concepts and change management processes
• Working knowledge of ETL processes
• Working knowledge of data modeling concepts both relational and dimensional
• Working knowledge of UNIX shell scripting
• Working knowledge Hyperion EPM infrastructure
• Working knowledge of automated job scheduling
• Experience with Oracle SQL and/or PL/SQL
• Strong experience in Microsoft Office productivity tools
• Understanding of authentication and authorization security concepts
• Understanding of all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Demonstrated expertise in change management and version control practices
• Must be a good team player and detailed oriented, resourceful, motivated and creative
• Flexible, organized and able to handle competing priorities
• Sound, logic based decision making
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Work collaboratively and cross-functionally as part of a team as well as an independently
• Work proactively and reactively
• Recognize areas of opportunity and make recommendations for improvement
