Business Analyst
Location: Hartford, CT and/or St. Louis, MO

"Under the general direction of a Senior Business Analyst, the Business Analyst V will ensure that the quality of a developed product has met the acceptance criteria for client delivery by using approved business and testing requirements. The Business Analyst V leads a team of 8 or more members in planning, designing, and executing manual software test cases within the Software Development Life Cycle of an assigned engagement. The Business Analyst V proactively uses an in-depth working knowledge of insurance, a technical understanding of client's
products, and appropriate technical tools to resolve business issue in the most effective manner. The Business Analyst V provides exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Essential Functions:
- Provides expert guidance in understanding the insurance product and business needs of the customer
- Delivers excellent verbal and written communication skills, including informative and well organized presentations, and interacts professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers and subject matter experts
- Assists in overall project management to include the ability to prioritize and manage customer expectations through enforcement of deadlines and schedules, to schedule meetings with customers, to determine priorities and critical path necessary to achieve defined objectives according to plan, to identify areas of project risk and implement mitigation plans, and to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions for presentation to the customer
- Elicits, interprets, analyzes, and translates product requirements at appropriate level of detail
- Independently generates, or directs team to generate, testing artifacts required to support defined acceptance criteria
- Provides expert guidance on business requirements, specifications and prototypes; workflow models; the system development life cycle; and the client's services methodology
- Leads, designs and executes manual and regression software testing to verify that requirements have been met
- Provides expert guidance in the use of automation testing and executing and updating test scripts by using Example Express, Form, Author, TransACT and User Admin functionality
- Uses knowledge of The Party System, Product Studio, Consumer Access and Server functionality in the Example Platform to enhance customer products
- Reviews test plans and determines appropriate level of effort to complete assigned tasks
- Identifies and documents system deficiencies, recommends solutions and assigns to development resources
- Develops curriculum and trains external customers on product solutions
- Participates in Product Management User forums providing input and expertise in existing and new product development
- Serves as the conduit between the internal and external customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow
- Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyzes tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
People Management
- Effectively leads a team of 6 or more people to achieve defined objectives. Participates in recruiting, training, and retention of team members. Provides project and performance feedback to manager.
