BSA Job Description

 

Roles and Responsibilities

§  Interface and build relationships with internal business stakeholders to understand business problems, requirements, and system capabilities enough to help the business develop  the business case, and monitor solutions to preserve the value levers of the business case and make recommendations that increase ROI.

§  Accept requirements from multiple stakeholders and prioritize product backlogs and analyze them for impacts to the systems .

§  Collaborate with cross-functional teams comprised of product management, content, and technology stakeholders and facilitate the elicitation of project requirements using a variety of techniques (e.g. interviews, JAD, user observations).

§  Translate business requirements into a positive user experience that aligns with the company brand strategy.

§   Develop current / future state user stories, process flows, models from requirement sessions, screen mockups/wireframes as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors for our products.

§  Analyze and prioritize software product requirements and understand the system capabilities to decompose into user stories and organize them into “chunks” that may be built and/or delivered independent of one another. Sequence the requirements and schedule them into different releases; communicate release schedules to stakeholders.

§  Act as a liaison between the agile delivery team and business groups by communicating product and business vision, translating product needs into technology solutions.

§   Maintain the teams' work backlog; make sure that there is an adequate supply of groomed stories.

§  Resolve issues, answer questions, and remove obstacles for the SCRUM team quickly.

§  Champion continuous process improvement across the product development lifecycle.

§  Understand the system architecture and project portfolio well enough to assess the impact of requirements, indentify potential impacts to interfacing applications, and project/system dependencies upfront.

§  Understand and work within both agile and waterfall methodologies, selecting the most appropriate based on project needs.

§   Must be able to change hats (i.e. Product Owner, QA, and BSA) and adapt quickly to change.

§  Review and approve system test plans and test cases.

§  Perform impact and root cause analysis by developing queries and utilizing search tools to gather facts.

 

Requirements

§  Ability to think logically, critically, and constructively about complex problems and propose solutions that address expressed needs

§  Ability to facilitate negotiation and build consensus amongst competing parties, ultimately driving teams to decision

§  Ability to glean organizational strategy and work with stakeholders to identify and define priorities appropriately

§  Proven experience and passion for facilitating requirements gathering sessions, designing customer facing interfaces (navigation, look, and feel) for complex web applications and websites.

§  Excellent strengths in time management and organization skills with an aptitude toward creative problem solving.

§  Possess outstanding leadership skills

§  Possess outstanding oral and written communication skills, capable of addressing both technical and non-technical audiences

§  Ability to operate independently and effectively, making progress on tasks while dealing with process and project ambiguity

§  Experience (1 year or more) with analysis in Agile, Scrum, and/or XP development environments

§  Experience (1 year or more) in analysis for web applications in a multi-tier architecture

Additional Preferred Requirements

§  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related discipline

§  5+ years of systems analyst experience or software product development experience

§  Agile I Scrum experience as a Product Owner
