Title: Junior QA Test Engineer

Location: Oakland, CA

Duration: 6 Months

Position: 3

Rate: $35/hr

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Creating test plans and lead testing strategy around new feature requirements.
• Assist in enhancing current automation scripts for new functionality and regression testing.
• Assist in on-going process improvement efforts to ensure test planning and execution methods are effective, efficient, standardized, coordinated, and integrated.
• Assist in designing new test strategies, developing test tools and implementing test cases to ensure the highest quality deliverable.
• Defect tracking and issue status reporting.
• Able to multi-task, triage issues, react well to changes, work independently in a fast paced environment.
• Must be self-motivated and know when to seek guidance; detail-orientation is a must.

Technical Skills

·         Java, Windows, .Net, Linux/Unix.

·         Scripting (shell, Perl, Python)

·         Experience with XML and backend API web services.

·         Automate and execute regression, functionality, benchmark, performance tests.

·         Thorough understanding of QA methodologies and release best practices.

·         Experience in distributed system design and continuous integration environments.

·         Experience with release management and automated build systems.

·         Prior usage of Bugzilla, JIRA or other bug tracking programs.

·         Experience in toolbar applications / browser extensions.

·         Experience with Agile project management / iterative development.

 

 Required Experience: 

• 5-7+ years of QA experience in a fast-paced environment, minimum of 2 years experience in releasing client software.
• Ability to work in a technical software development environment and understand technical issues/requirements in order to facilitate the right solutions
• Ability to adapt to different team dynamics and be flexible in type of release methodologies
• Excellent analytical abilities – ability to understand the complexities in requirements and identify positive/negative test cases
• Ability to work closely with developers to understand technical issues/requirements and communicate test results to product management and other stakeholders
• Proven ability to balance multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously.
