Job title: Senior AIX Administrator - contractor 

Location: Miramar, FL (South Florida)

Duration: 6 + months

 

Job Summary:

Unix support plan. Resource will work in the midrange systems UNIX team. Daily task will include Remedy Support Tickets and MAC requests.

Resource will carry the team duty phone as part of the rotation of 1 week at a time.

Resource will be responsible for implementing and complying with Change MGMT processes, including attending shore side and shipboard change mgmt meetings and following the approval process

 

Required skills/competencies: Excellent communication skills.

Senior AIX Experience: AIX 5.3, AIX 6.1,Virtual IO Servers, HMC, PowerVM, DLPAR, NPIV, HACMP 5.5 or greater, Scripting, LPM, NIM, Strong troubleshooting skills, Strong understanding of LVM in a SAN environment ( SDD, MPIO ),User management, AIX backups and Patching, Security, Experience working in an Oracle environment, Ability to work in a demanding production

Environment/multitasking MS Office (Excel, Word, and Visio)

 

Required skills/competencies:

•        At least 7 years managing AIX environments

•        Excellent knowledge of Power 5, Power 6 and Power 7 systems

•        In depth experience with AIX 5, AIX 6

•        Must be completely proficient setting up VIO servers including vswitch and LPARS configuration

•        Strong understanding of the HMC

•        Completely familiar with PowerVM

•        Understanding of High Availability products

•        Ability to install/setup clients using NIM server

•        Understanding of SAN environment and booting AIX systems from a SAN

•        AIX upgrades, backups and patching

•        Firware update

•        TCPIP configuration and troubleshooting

•        System troubleshooting skills including maintenance mode and re-installation from NIM or other cloning methods

•        Excellent performance and troubleshooting skills

•        Scripting language – KSH, CSH, PERL

•        Ability to configure LPM

•        Configured new products such as NPIV and Systems Director

•        Strong oral and writing skills. Must be able to interact with customers at many levels

•        Prior work in a team environment

•        Ability to handle shifting priorities

•        On-call rotation including some nights and weekends

•        Ability to support a 7 x 24 environment

 

Preferred Skills:

•        NPIV, VIOS, NIM, LPM, In-depth Volume group knowledge, AIX install over the network. AIX upgrade over the network.

•        Knowledge of AIX system connected to the SAN is a must.

 

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in a computer field or equivalent experience

Travel Required: Yes

Travel Description:  Resource may need to travel internationally by land, air or sea.. Engineer may have to visit ships in Client's Fleet to install and support installation
