Technical BI/ Reporting Business Analyst

 

The Technical Business Analyst role requires the candidate to perform the following specific tasks:

•        Define business, functional requirements for large scale, high volume BI/ Reporting/ KPI deliverables

•        Define non-functional, technical requirements for large scale, high volume BI/ Reporting/ KPI deliverables

•        Reverse engineer existing modern legacy reports into business, functional and technical specifications

•        High level ability to read and interpret SQL, ETL and PowerBuilder code, in order to identify business and technical requirements. NOTE: Current strong, developer level skills are NOT a requirement, only the ability to identify and infer requirements/ business rules/ calculations from exiting screens and code. Complex reverse engineering will be done by other dedicated development resources operating in a support role to the Technical BA

•        Disciplined, methodical approach to analyzing  requirements and developing candidate business solutions

•        Develop practical, easy to use BI and report screen mockups and navigation wire frames (paper prototypes) to validate new BI Report requirements with business users

•        Develop use cases and scenarios to explore potential navigational/ business rule/ exception criteria/ drill down/ drill across activities

•        Work effectively with specialist data architect, Cognos and Qlikview, PoweBuilder and SQL developer resources

•        Strong effective verbal and written communication skills

 

Required

•        Bachelor's Degree

•        At least 4 years Professional experience

•        At least 3 years Business Analyst experience

•        At least 1 + year Retail experience

•        At least 2 + year experience in Business Information (BI), Reporting and or Data Warehouse, ETL

 

Preferred

•        At least 6 years Professional experience

•        At least 5 years Business Analyst experience

•        At least 3 + year Retail experience

•        3 years IT development experience

•        At least 3+ year experience in Business Information (BI), Reporting and or Data Warehouse, ETL

•        Powerbuilder and SQL development experience a very strong bonus – Modern legacy systems

•        Cognos, Qlikview experience a very strong bonus – New target technology
