Job Description:

 

JOB PURPOSE & SUMMARY

The position leads the support of client's various Enterprise Commercial Software Support System (ECSS) and works at an advanced level in PeopleSoft Financials. 

This role is highly skilled with extensive proficiency and works on the most complex issues, independently and is expected to mentor less experienced team members.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Application/Database Administration (30%)

•    Lead the planning and coordination of PeopleSoft application and tools software installations and upgrades, patches, hot fixes, or maintenance to several commercial software products operating in a multiple platform environment, including but not limited to Advanced Interactive Executive (AIX), Windows, and LINUX.

•    Collaborate with vendors, system administrators, developers and other departments within PHEAA to support and complete a variety of tasks (e.g. design system configurations, support complicated client workstation issues, integrate systems with ECSS, produce high quality deliverables, correct system problems and etc.) across various test and production systems that are the most complex.

•    Provide the most advanced support for IBM DB2 LUW and SQL Server database structures.

•    Plan and implement the most complex third party software installations, or maintenance in a UNIX/DB2 or Windows/SQL server client server environment.  

•    Improve and monitor performance and plan for future expansion(s).

•    Plan, coordinate and implement security measures using Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG's) methodology.

•    Provide an architectural framework for development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts for specific commercial applications.

•    Create and maintain application UML models and detailed technical design documents from which developers build applications.

•    Understand the interactions between systems, applications and services within the environment and evaluate the impact of changes or additions to meet client needs most effectively.

•    Prepare high level design presentations to achieve buying with teams that have conflicting priorities.

•    Identify and communicate common design components or candidates for enterprise domain and services 

•    Maintain published design documentation

•    Extensive research (e.g. trouble shoot issues, perform upgrades, remain current on new technology, and Tier 3 support) using internet, vendors, and coworkers.

•    Search application and database logs to debug applications, email flow, database corruption, and database performance issues.

 

Project Management & Communication (35%)

•             Assign project tasks and areas of responsibility to project team members from basic to complex.  Monitors quality and rate of technical progress.

•             Manage highly complex application, upgrades and etc. 

•             Partner with other Information Technology (IT) personnel within the department units, functional users and vendors to provide guidance, manage project implementation or users support.

•             Mentor less experienced Software Engineers.  This may include assigning work, reviewing work for adherence to standards, and provide coaching guidance.

•             Scope, plan, and prioritize multiple projects.

•            

 

Strategic Agility (30%)

•             Evaluate upgrades to determine changes needed before implementation or how to leverage upgrade functionality.

•             May sit on/or participate in industry specific user groups/or committees. 

•             Required to stay current in industry specific knowledge.

 

               

QUALIFICATIONS 

MINIMUM EDUCATION& EXPERIENCE:   Bachelor's degree in an IT related field or equivalent experience and at least eight years of experience in an IT environment (enterprise scale) with advanced experience in Lotus Notes/Domino or PeopleSoft.

 

Technical

•  Advanced knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft Financials, preferably through Version 9.1 and PeopleTools 8.50.22 or higher

•  Advanced design/development skill using PeopleSoft proprietary toolset including, but not limited to Application Designer, Application Engine, Component Interface, Integration Broker, PeopleCode (including Application Packages), Query Manager, and Upgrade Assistant

•  Proven advanced knowledge and application of DB2 and SQL Server database concepts.

•  Extensive knowledge of mail apps, clustering, and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).

•  Advanced in concepts, characteristics, and capabilities of information technology hardware, software and networks.

•  Advanced skills to debug and dig deeply into one specific task to uncover root cause and provide solution(s). 

•  Demonstrated advanced use of the UNIX, LINUX, and Windows operating system and scripting.

•  Demonstrated advanced knowledge of client/server and web architectures.

•  Expert knowledge of purchased commercial systems – maintenance, upgrades and customizations to apply innovative business solutions.

•  Advanced in Systems Development Life Cycle, including system requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, documentation and implementation.

•  Demonstrated experience with core records management processes and information technologies.

•  Proven experience with business process analysis and improvement.

•  Advanced experience in MS Office Suite.
