Position Description
Job Description
Driver Pack Configuration Engineer to build deployment packages of drivers to be used with PC Manageability software in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
· Build “HP Driver Pack” packages containing Windows OS drivers for HP PC platforms. Optimize Driver Packages to reduce size.
· Execute test plans pertaining to driver installation on PCs notebooks, desktops, and workstations.
· Provide timely status reports of build progress.
Qualifications
Experience and knowledge (Must have background in three or more of these areas.):
Experience in Windows INF-based driver installation, troubleshooting errors including yellow bangs, and optimizing driver package size.
Knowledge in Enterprise IT processes for PC life cycle management, including image deployment, image maintenance, health monitoring and alerting.
Knowledgeable in technical subject matter such as PC architecture, PC firmware, PC device drivers, trusted platform module, and the concepts of BIOS domain.Experience in performing
hardware installs (Memory, hard drives, motherboards, etc).Knowledge on PXE environments, familiar with BIOS flashing processes, networking skills (Connect to Networks, Servers, Ipconfig),
and/or Virtual Machine experience is a plus.
1-3 years hands on experience with Microsoft deployment consoles including SMS, SCCM 2007, SCUP, SCOM, and MDT. Experience troubleshooting deployment issues with Microsoft
deployment consoles.
3+ years of QA Test experience in the PC industry. Experience in Test Plan development is a plus.
Experience using industry standard client management solutions including Symantec (Altiris), LANDesk, etc. is a plus.
Develop and/or review (internal and external) technical documentation experience is a plus.
Skills:
Ability to work with a diverse team — must be a team player. Comfortable training other testers.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills in order to generate creative/innovative solutions
Keen attention to details and accuracy. Very good planning, organization, and facilitation skills.
Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with a team to provide written responses to technical documentations. Able to communicate with assurance and confidence.
Demonstrates a use of strong questioning, listening, reading and writing skills.
Comfortable providing demo of technologies responsible for testing.
Has proficiency in Windows OS (XP, Vista, Win7)
