Job description:

The Database Administrator is responsible for the creation and maintenance of databases that support all the Business efforts of the Company. This position will also be responsible for interfacing with various levels of the business. He /She will be required to assist other team members with projects as necessary. This individual will augment the existing team of database administrators in E-Commerce team to support new initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for supporting the Oracle databases and ensuring their performance, availability and security.
Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
Responsible for development and for providing assistance to the team for ETL jobs using Oracle pl/sql package, procedures etc.

Education/Skills Requirements:

Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.
4-5 years of Oracle Database administration in Solaris / Linux environments RAC databases
Proven core Oracle Database administration experience, upgrades, migrations and patching
Experience in DB cloning, DB refreshes, installation and configuring Grid Infrastructure and RAC databases
Working experience in DR/HA solutions using Oracle Dataguard, RMAN, Replication etc.
Must be highly experienced performing database backups and recovery using RMAN.
Extensive work experience in SQL and PL/SQL by writing Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages and Triggers.
Solid experience and knowledge in ETL and Data warehousing concepts.
Experienced in ETL development and Data Migration using native tools of Oracle (Data pump, SQL LOADER, PL/SQL, OEM DB Control)
Familiarity with Oracle data warehousing features such as materialized views, bitmap indexes, Index Organized Tables, external tables etc.
Troubleshooting performance problems and providing RCA and solutions
Good knowledge in STAR Schema, Snow Flake Schema, FACT Tables and Dimension Tables
Must possess good knowledge in database modeling (Logical and Physical data model)
Ability to solve complex problems spanning multiple technologies and disciplines
Out of business hours and weekend working will be necessary
Required – Expertise with Oracle 10g and 11g (4-5 years)
Required – Must be strong in PL/SQL
Preferred – Strong UNIX administration and Shell Scripting
Preferred – Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Skills
