Job Description & Duties:
Responsibilities:
Lead and Execute like for like and cross platform database migration projects
• Ability to understand migration constraints and arrive at a suitable migration strategy and convince the stakeholders
• Understands the risks in cross platform data migration and can mitigate them
• Ability to scope the engagement & estimate the level of effort.
• Provide support on all the stages of database implementation and/or database related deployments
• Ability to work independently and to resolve complex Oracle issues
• Run diagnostic tools to identify database performance bottlenecks, and take appropriate corrective actions to improve database performance. Work with development teams to tune SQL queries.
• Proactive monitoring of the databases
• Troubleshoot Oracle performance and non-performance related issues either independently or in conjunction with other DBAs
• Manage backup/recovery for Oracle instances
• Management of database and resource capacity planning.
• Implement and enforce database security based upon best practice, SOX regulations, and company policies
• Installation of new Oracle instances and upgrades
• Participate in project meetings, as necessary, to understand application and database requirements
• Provide after hours support as required Setting up and resolving issues with Oracle Data Guard environments
• Experience in task automation
• Scripting language (ksh, perl)
Relevant Experience:
• 15+ years of DBA experience in managing database on HP-UX, Sun and Windows Platforms.
• Database Migration and Replication using Golden Gate.
• Experience in managing Oracle database must. Experience in SQL Server and Sybase are plus.
• Hands on experience in large scale cross platform DB migration projects.
• Data migration of Oracle 9i,10G,11G Versions of databases.
• Data migration of Oracle DBs with Transportable tablespace.
• Can demonstrate hands-on usage of techniques to work in environments with very minimal downtime for migration.
• Knowledge of DB performance tuning skills and usage of AWR, ADDM and Statspack.
• Knowledge of Oracle RAC and other horizontal scaling techniques.
• Understands TPC and other popular benchmarks and sizing methods
• Strong production support experience within a large financial organization & customer service skills.
• Excellent understanding of Oracle internals.
• Oracle Enterprise Manager/Grid Control for environment standardization.
• Good documentation and communication skills.
• Team-oriented work ethic that includes willingness to help others.
• Able to work independently and share results of assigned projects with team members.
• Good analytical skills.
