Business Intelligence Developer
6+ Months
Essential Functions:
• Design enterprise and departmental business intelligence, data warehousing and reporting solutions using the Microsoft Business Intelligence (BIDS) tool set (SQL Server 2008 R2)
• Provide strategic technology direction while supporting the tactical needs of the business
• With minimal supervision, perform tasks spanning the full lifecycle of BI development, including end-user interviews, business requirements analysis, analytic/report development, documentation, training and support.
• Ensure timely execution of standard reports (daily, weekly, monthly reporting). Troubleshoot and resolve reporting issues as needed.
• SSRS Report development against both cubes and SQL data warehouse data sources required
• SSAS Cube development and Deployment within a Production Environment preferred
• Support end users with appropriate tools (Reporting, OLAP, Ad-hoc query) for their analysis needs.
• Provide training and support to users with ad-hoc analysis as needed.
• Communication skills are critical as this position interacts closely with both business and developers while gathering requirements, designing, testing, implementing and supporting solutions.
• Business Objects Universe and Report development within a Production Environment helpful but not required
Qualifications:
• 4-8 years of experience implementing and managing solutions using Business Objects
• Thorough understanding of BI/DW concepts is required.
• Highly proficient in both PL/SQL and T-SQL is required.
• Understanding of both relational and dimensional data modeling is preferred.
• Solutions oriented; learn quickly, understand complex problems, and apply useful solutions
• Experience with both Oracle (11g) and SQL Server (2008 R2, 2010) is preferred
• 2-4 years of experience implementing Microsoft Business Intelligence (BIDS) preferred
• Experience with Team Foundation Server (TFS) or other source code control tools preferred
• Familiarity with ETL tools (Infomatica, etc.) and ETL processes is preferred.
• Ability to work with business and technology users to define and gather reporting and analytics requirements.
• Ability to work as a team player.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to work without daily supervision.
• Skilled in multitasking and providing premium support to business users.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills – experience in analyzing and understanding business/technology system architectures, databases, and client applications.
• Experience in tuning report performance by optimizing metadata structures and/or working with DW/ETL team to modify data structures.
• Oil and Gas industry experience preferred
