ETE DC Engineer (Data Center Engineer)


Description

The candidate should have direct experience
working in Data Center environments.
.Strong knowledge of other Cisco products such as Nexus 7k, 5k and 2k along with Catalyst 3k, 4k and 6k switches, SUP32/720, etc is a must.
.Excellent QoS experience (DSCP-COS mapping, AutoQoS, MQC, etc.) is a must.
.The candidate should have proficient knowledge focused on network technology.
.Detailed knowledge of Routing protocols such as OSPF, RIP, EIGRP is required as well as hands-on involvement with interconnecting Cisco router and switch products with one another on an enterprise scale.
.In depth knowledge of Cisco router and switch configuration and deployment as well as interoperability and troubleshooting.
.Candidate also needs to possess: knowledge of enterprise deployment common practices and understanding how complex technology integration affects the overall network stability and performance.
.Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation such a topology diagrams, flow diagrams, version tracking and project Bills of Material Fundamental considerations should include experience in Layer 2 & Layer 3 networking such as; OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, Route Redistribution, ACLs, QoS, STP, Multicast, and IPv6. Experience with Nexus switching, network virtualization, storage networking and multi-chassis port channelling are of special interest.
CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Professional)

Desirable Technical Skill/ Responsibilities Desirable:
.The candidate should have experience with traffic generators, sniffers and networking monitoring tools. WORK SKILLS Skills specific to the job required.

Essential:
.The candidate should have experience working in large enterprise environments.
.Cross-departmental project experience is fundamental to success in the Early Technology Evaluation.
.Able to translate project specifications and requirements into project plans and diagrams will be critical to the roll.
.Visio and Power Point presentation familiarity is required.
.STRONG ability to troubleshoot problems on a wide scale in a global environment.
.Ablity to work in an extremely fast-paced environment and participate as a team player is crucial.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in Data Center Environments
Technical pre-planning for Networking features and product rollouts Staging and interoperability testing with Network teams Complete responsibility for owned product areas (i.e. new system release planning, patching, user notification, upgrades, equipment orders, etc.) Maintain and operate existing ETE infrastructure Primary support contact for assigned Business Unit accounts Work with various business units and external departments on projects ranging from expansion projects to new product rollouts. On-call duty pager rotation. Attend regular meetings for project planning Provide trending reports for various products Assist in other areas of ETE as needed CANDIDATE:
This person should have a collaborative work ethic and an ability to work in a fast pace, ever changing environment.
They should be flexible yet proactive. They should have the skill set to forge ahead through Beta testing issues and work with various Business Units to resolve identified issues.
This person should be a leader in the technology field and proactively obtain information about products/features on the ETE roadmap.
Desirable Functional Skills:
.Communication and writing skills (Engineering will communicate with project networks for items such as outages, upgrades, overall maintenance)
.Ability to delegate (Engineering will need to understand lower level tasks that can be delegated to other members of the team for maximum performance)
.Ability to multitask projects and issues
.Be a team player (Able to reach out to other members of the team when needed and also respond to requests from other team members)
.Ownership (Fully own any projects assigned, taking any and all steps to continually meet critical due dates)
.Proactive (not reactive)
.Ability to adapt/learn new protocols/technologies and integrate them in timely manner.
.Ability to perform project coordination related tasks among various Departments and Business Units
