Point Tactical Java Developer
Title Point Tactical Java Developer
Location: NYC
Duration: 6 months

Main Function
The POINT Tactical team is responsible for supporting the central services of the POINT system, with a focus on implementing client-facing new features and bug fixes. POINT services are built in pure Java running in WebLogic using a Service Oriented Architecture.
This contract position is to improve various central POINT services to enhance the experience of POINT clients.
The candidate must have demonstrated experience in Java application development; including Object Oriented Design, Refactoring, Unit Testing, and Debugging large distributed applications.
They should also have experience with WebLogic 9 & 10.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are additional requirements.
The role requires excellent communication skills for interactions with both technical colleagues and business users.
Main Duties
- Support and enhance client-facing aspects of the central POINT services
Person Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Educational background in Computer Science (or related field), or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of Java development, including experience with WebLogic 9 & 10
- 5+ years of Linux experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with XML, including XPath, XSLT and schemas (XSD)
- Knowledge of Java Message Service (JMS)
- Efficient debugging skills for large distributed systems
- Knowledge of financial instrument analytics
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills

Note: Team is looking for a mid to senior level Java Developer, preferably 5 years plus experience with core Java, object oriented. Candidate must have experience with both Weblogic versions 9 and 10. Candidate should have a solid background developing on a Linux platform. Candidate should have some type of messaging experience, JMS preferred. Any experience with XML, including XPath, XLST, and schemas(XSD). Candidate should have a strong analytical background and should have recent financial experience, anything with in the Securities realm.
