Role: Performance Engineer
Duration: 6 - 12 Months Contract
Location: San Diego, CA

DESCRIPTION:
PERFORMANCE ENGINEER:
• Able to test assess performance and stability of an SOA and multi tier application
• Able to perform root cause analysis and provide a balance of breadth and depth of coverage for your testing areas.
• Required to independently produce defect descriptions that rigorously quantify the problem to a high degree, identify the scope and impact of a problem, and conduct additional analysis to identify defect cause and scope.
• Experience conducting complex system performance investigations
• Able to examine, analyze and enhance enterprise application performance characteristics
• Responsible for developing user behavior models of performance tests
• Develop system capacity projections including servers, network, and storage
• Ability to do data collection, data and trend analysis
• Responsible for providing operational planning and production deployment support of large scale integrated systems
• Responsible for scheduling your own time and quality completion of multiple tasks within a varying environment with changing constraints.
• Required to work with various cross functional teams to ensure issues are addressed quickly and with quality results.
• Required to communicate product readiness, level of quality, risks and results to Quality Assurance Manager and the project team.
• Provide regular reports on the performance characteristics of the systems
• Experience with identifying and implementing process efficiency opportunities
• Experience with Agile development techniques and tools
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• Must be familiar with Service Oriented Architectures and security best practices
• Strong experience using performance testing tools
• Experience with Java, Linux/Unix, monitoring tools such as Wily/Splunk
• 5+ years professional technical experience, preferably in software engineering or quality assurance
• 3+ years experience performance testing enterprise applications
