POSITION: Mainframe Consultant
Location: Raleigh, NC
Duration: 12 months
Max pay rate of $50.00/ Hr
Description:
The selected candidate will assist permanent staff in the development and support of mainframe programs for the Unemployment Insurance Benefit Payment System. The programs must be thoroughly tested and accurate. Codes must be concise, efficient and easily maintainable and conform to State and DES IS Divisional standards.
The selected candidate will be expected to:
• Develop a thorough knowledge of the application area
• Work independently with users in defining system requirements and solutions to service requests
• Be efficient in troubleshoot program issues
• Work on Ad Hoc requests that are for different parts of the GUIDE Benefit Payment System.
• Conduct analysis for new application development and on existing systems that may require significant changes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Requirements:
• Knowledge of and Minimum of three (3) years experience in business application development including extensive hands-on experience with, COBOL, JCL, CICS and VSAM
• Endevor Source Management Application
• Mainframe batch FTP processes
• Knowledge of and ability to create JCL and write COBOL Batch and CICS programs that access VSAM
files. Experience working with large datasets across multiple platforms
• Ability to demonstrate the capability to determine the best implementation for enhancements to legacy systems
• Possess proven communications skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to take direction as well as the ability to work independently or as part of a team on assigned tasks.
Preferences:
Preference will be given to the candidate with demonstrated experience in the development and support of mainframe programs for GUIDE Unemployment Insurance Benefit Payment System
