The Sr. Cognos Developer / Technology Specialist leads all aspects of the delivery of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and related components

Sr. Cognos Developer / Technology Specialist understands business challenges and translates them into requirements/solutions.

The Sr. Cognos Developer / Technology Specialist has experience analysis, designing, developing, and implementing complex Cognos 8 solutions; relational and multi-dimensional data modeling, including the use of standard data modeling tools.

 

Skills:

• Demonstrated hands on experience with two or more full lifecycle Cognos BI implementation
• A demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex BI requirements
• A documented history of successfully driving projects to completion
• Prioritization and organizational skills to execute and manage many tasks concurrently
• Advanced knowledge of SQL (3+ year's experience).
• Java Programming knowledge (1+ year's experience)
• Strong data modeling and design knowledge: Data modeling theory, Semantic consistency (across the enterprise), 3NF Operational modeling, Dimensional modeling (star schema and snowflake), DBMS constructs (views, constraints, indexes, etc.), Logical and physical data modeling.
• 10+ years experience in Business Intelligence / IT Industry
• The most recent 5 years of experience should be in Business Intelligence or Data Warehousing type projects, and the most recent 2 years should be in a Cognos development role, as a senior or lead Cognos developer.
• 5+ years experience in Cognos BI (Series 8, Report/Analysis/Query Studios, Framework Manager, and Transformer) including architecting, administering, developing and supporting the environment.
• 3+ years experience in the Cognos 8 suite of Business Intelligence tools. Framework Manager, Query Studio, Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Metric Studio, Metric Designer, Event Studio and Reports Administration
• 3+ years experience in Oracle and Informatica
• Experience integrating Cognos 8 with SQL Server and Oracle
• Excellent communication, problem solving skills, decision making, time management, presentation, human relations, and project management  skills
