POSITION SUMMARY:
The Software Engineer III will be responsible for technical leadership for a defined project during requirements, design, construction, and transition. Technical responsibilities include requirements analysis and elaboration, schedule and scope management, architectural design review, design modeling, code construction, QA and deployment consultation, documentation and support. Responsible for consultation, support and mentoring of other engineering staff. Also responsible for driving internal and customer-based initiatives, providing detailed status and issue escalation to management, providing root cause analysis and complete problem resolution and delivery for entire modules across multiple developers. Will be responsible for continued mentoring and coaching of junior engineers both on the project and general development staff.
KNOWLEDGE AREAS:
* 6+ years of professional Software Development experience
* 2+ years experience with web services
* High level of proficiency with Object Oriented programming languages (such as: .Net, C#)
* High level of proficiency with Internet application programming (such as D/HTML. JavaScript, ASP, JSP)
* High level of proficiency with RDBMS and SQL
* High level of proficiency with both application and database performance optimization techniques
* Deep understanding of methodologies: UML, OOAD, Unified Process, XP, Patterns
* Expert in Windows 2000/XP
* High level of proficiency with multiple internal systems/modules
* Significant expertise with toolsets:
o IDE: Visual Studio or like
o Source Code Control: Vault, Visual Source Safe or like
* Ability to coach and mentor other developers
* Ability to organize and drive project assignments utilizing multiple resources
* Ability to work on multiple projects/assignments concurrently under aggressive deadlines
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
* Technical expertise for a defined project
* Coaching and mentoring staff
* Support requirements elaboration and analysis
* Participate in design and architectural sessions (working with Technical Team Leads) as required with both project and enterprise perspective
* Assist in development of training programs and materials
* Adhere to structured development environment while able to adapt to periodic high pressure scenarios
* Assist in project sizing, project plans, technical evaluations, timelines and risk analysis
* Assist in resource identification and monitoring
* Support the organization with research initiatives to improve stability, extensibility, flexibility and performance of Harte-Hanks systems and products
* Identify critical business processes for continued improvement in Harte-Hanks Process Engineering efforts
* Technology and tools research and proposals
* Enterprise framework development and deployment
