Role:-Data Architect

Location:-St. Louis, MO, Baltimore, MD

Duration:-6 month

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The data architect is responsible for working with both functional and technical personnel to gather, manage, model and document the detailed data requirements for relational database systems, including the corporate data warehouse.  This role includes influencing global data architecture directions and defining major data architecture related technology standards. 

 

 

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Participates in development initiatives to develop logical and physical data models and to capture application specific metadata.
• Document data content, relationships, structure, and flow, processes that manage, transform, or touch data, business rules that govern data and durations for which data is required.
• Create and maintain an enterprise metadata repository.
• Serves as technical lead or consultant to development teams in efficient data access methods.
• Responsible for overall architecture design, which includes logical and physical design of data warehouse, data marts, staging areas and operational data stores ensuring that the design will support data availability, SLA and response time commitments.
• Provide expert knowledge regarding data warehousing, OLAP technology and data management including data extraction, transformation and loading processes.
• Prepare specifications for data warehousing projects, including data distribution and replication where appropriate.
• Works with various levels of management to plan, develop and implement data warehouse strategies to provide for the integration of data from many source systems.
• Establish and enhance a data management framework
• Establish, enhance and enforce data standards
• Ensure appropriate data security, privacy and access considerations are addressed
• Reviews SQL code to ensure scalability and efficiency.

 

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Extensive experience in all aspects of the data warehouse lifecycle including gathering requirements, design, development, implementation and support.
• Strong data modeling skills (normalized and multi-dimensional).
• Demonstrate knowledge through work experience in architecting and oversight of data warehouses, data marts, operational data stores, and associated front-end technologies.
• Experience in current trends in technologies, tools, and methods in the business intelligence space is essential (e.g. SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Portal Technology).
• Strong knowledge with current data management technologies.
• Strong interviewing skills to extract information from subject matter experts for current and potential future data needs.
• Hands-on experience and knowledge in data validation, standardization, consolidation, enrichment and cleansing.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work as a team player.
• Ability to identify and resolve project issues effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to a rapidly-changing work environment.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
