Job Description Job Description: (Application / Network Consulting Engineer) Cisco seeks an Advanced Services Network Consulting Engineer to join our Emerging Solutions Group with some of the industry's brightest minds in developing and deploying today's most advanced Vertical Solutions (Healthcare) in the Data Center environment. In this role, you will gain insight on the Cisco products, services and solutions with our most strategic customers and partners with all distributed elements of the service chain. The ideal candidate demonstrates an aptitude and appetite for learning new technologies, and applying this to provide solutions in our vertical healthcare solution (Healthcare Services Exchange - HSX) inside a number of Cloud Data Center infrastructures. Area of responsibility will include assisting development partners and Alpha/Beta customers to resolve network/connectivity/VPN type of issues, on-site or remotely. This candidate will also have the opportunity to work with our development team to understand Cloud-based software stacks and it?s related services components. In this role you will troubleshoot and triage technical issues for HSX ? Healthcare Services Cloud Solutions (service cloud) with a backend Data Center with a number of net new Cisco end-points focusing on Application environments. Required Qualifications: ? Typically requires BS in CS or EE or equivalent plus 1-3 years Data Center related experience. ? Require in-depth knowledge of the following areas: Data Center Networking and Data Center Products. Desktop Virtualization, Hosted Applications, network and application based security such as VPN. ? Demonstrated networking experience including TCP/IP and Routing Protocols. ? Experience or Certifications in one or more of the following is preferred: SAN, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, ? Prior customer support experience is preferred. Will be required to perform Setup/provisioning and troubleshooting/triage of Data Center Solutions, to include VblockTM(1) which may consist of the following products: Cisco Security and other third party Security Products Cisco Unified Computing System ? Nexus 1K-7K VMware, vSphere, View Citrix XenApp, XenServer Windows 7 XP/AD and XP SP3 Hyper-V EMC Clariion Storage Various 3rd PartyThin Clients, Cisco Cius Cisco Nexus and Catalyst Switches and Routers Cisco WAAS and ACE Cisco MDS9000 Cisco Security Products Cisco CUCM and Unity Connection BMC Applications Deliverables: Working with customer application and network security teams to establish B2B secure connectivity between hybrid clouds. Working with Alpha/Beta customers to deploy secure cloud-based appliance connecting back to main Data Center. Working with Services team and Engineering team to design, architect and document new service activation. Document service deployment plans with templates, workflows and document all repeatable methodologies to drive service automation. Desire Skills: Able to analyze, use and configure medium to large networks ? Proven crisis management skills ? Excellent verbal communication skills--these skills are essential for this engineering role as some work being done is through remote communication. ? Very strong Problem Solving skills, and ability to determine root cause and determine resolution for previously unknown problems ? Ability to drive recreates remotely--Many issues result in the engineer needing to perform a recreate of the customer problem in order to isolate the issue and resolve. ? Good organizational skills. This position requires that the Network Consulting Engineer is able to prioritize his/her workload and manage customer commitments independently. ? Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Able to work effectively with and provide guidance to other NCE team members and development and QA. This results in very strong teamwork which has proven to be successful in driving Issues to Resolution quickly.
