Description: 

This contract position is for an enterprise-level web programmer with architecture, design and development programming skills to architect and build software which provides a unique social shopping functionality to online stores.

The Web Application Architect will design and build, from the ground up, a software product that is based on our innovative social shopping approach (patent pending).  This will begin as an add-on for third party ecommerce systems, and then will be extended to become its own standalone application based on Web Services.

The Web Application Architect will be entrusted with recommending which technologies, techniques and best practices will be used to create a rich UI experience and robust, secure back-end.

Responsibilities / Duties:

1.      Analyze requirements and develop specifications for social shopping application.

2.      Write code, test and debug using LAMP, Javascript/AJAX, jQuery, and other eCommerce development tools for the social shopping application.

3.      Provide technical assistance and guidance to other programmers as they are added to project.

4.      Perform WEB server LINUX / APACHE administration functions as required to support the project.

5.      Perform MYSQL database administrative functions as required to support the project.

6.      Maintain project work logs, technical documentation, especially for code written and systems created, and time reporting information as required.

7.      Staying abreast of best practices, researching new tools, looking for opportunities to improve the software and leverage new tools.

8.      Identify, recommend, and enable technology or best practice improvements to increase sales and conversions for websites using our social shopping software.  This includes analytic reporting, search engine optimization (SEO), social networking strategy development, and WC3 web coding standards.

Qualifications

·         Proven object oriented, enterprise-level, Web programming, development, and design skills mandatory.

·         Extremely strong front-end user interface development skills, as well as solid ground-up php development skills mandatory.

·         Prior experience with online retail stores, design concept, branding and logo design layouts, wireframes, and mockups.

·         Experience with Subversion and source code management solutions, automated deployment methods, and techniques.

·         Web marketing and advertising exposure including web copy writing, branding banners, and rich email campaign design and production.

·         Experience with SEO, Google Analytics, and various KPIs along with the demonstrated ability to make recommendations and take actions based on the data.

·         Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

·         Proficient with the software development cycle (SDLC): product specifications gathering skill, requirements, design, quality assurance testing (QA) and production implementations.

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·         Demonstrate a flexible, proactive, "can do" attitude with a strong sense of urgency

·         Excellent organizational skills and ability to plan and manage your own work with in a fast pace environment with firm deadlines.

Technical Competencies:

·         Strong understanding hands on working knowledge of LAMP open-source development (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP).

·         Redhat Linux server administration and Apache configuration.

·         MySQL database configuration, monitoring, tuning, and reporting.

·         Minimum of 5 years experience developing dynamic, database driven web sites using PHP 5, XML, JavaSript, AJAX, jQuery, JSON, CSS, Flash, and compliant XHMTL.

·         5+ years experience with hand-coded website development.

·         Experiencing using eCommerce web application frameworks like Magento, Drupal, Wordpress, etc.  Experience with Magento, either community or Enterprise is a strong plus. Understanding of Zend Framework and/or MVC architecture also a strong plus.

·         Proficient with all Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Dreamweaver and other multimedia design and production tools, although other tools could be substituted based on the Web Application Architect's preferences.

·         Working knowledge of open source Web Services, such as SOAP, and vendor supplied API's.

·         Understanding of website security and PCI compliance a plus.
