Positions: DATA CENTER RELOCATION SENIOR CONSULTANT
Duration: 6 + months ( should run much longer)
Location: NY
Rate: $65/hr plus expenses (flexible for right candidate)
Knowledge/Understanding
- Significant knowledge and experience in data center and infrastructure projects – data center relocations and consolidations preferred.
- Ability to perform infrastructure discovery and assessments.
- Understanding of and ability to perform server and application dependency analysis.
- General understanding of all data center functions (production operations, network, change control, DR/Business recovery, helpdesk, systems management, and facilities) with a focus on server, storage, and database technologies.
- Server Platform Technologies (Unix/Wintel - HP/Sun/IBM/Dell etc.) skills.
- Knowledge and experience in cross-functional project management methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of the techniques for managing cross-functional teams.
- Skill in planning and preparing written communication.
- Skill in technical planning of information technology projects.
- Skill in working with groups to build consensus.
- Ability to apply strong project management skills and methodologies.
- Ability to create new work processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
Communication
- Facilitate team and client meetings effectively.
- Hold regular status meetings with project team.
- Effectively communicate relevant project information to team and superiors.
- Deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
- Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
- Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
- Manage all aspects of the customer relationship
Other
- Must be flexible to changing schedules
- Weekend work is common since data center moves are generally on a Friday night/Saturday
