Data Warehouse Architect MS Server, ETL Direct Client Bay area

 is seeking an experienced Data Architect with a demonstrated passion for getting accurate data into the hands of decision makers.  The Data Architect will work closely with scientists and managers to understand their data analysis requirements, and will lead the implementation of solutions to provide appropriately structured data and reports.  The ideal candidate is experienced in using multiple techniques for designing flexible and scalable data warehouse solutions for a variety of subject domains.

Key Responsibilities


·         Design, maintain, and communicate data warehouse architectures for multiple domains


·         Design and implement ETL procedures in collaboration with developers and DBAs


·         Work collaboratively to develop methods of synchronizing data coming in from multiple systems


·         Tune data movement jobs and queries to improve data load times and end-user data access response times


·         Develop technical documentation and act as a technical resource to report developers


·         Work closely with research and business leaders to gather reporting requirements, conduct analyses, and prioritize requests


Qualifications


·         BS in Computer Science or a similar degree.  MS preferred.


·         5+ years of experience as a data warehouse architect


·         Proven expertise in data warehousing design, tools, and principles


·         Extremely strong SQL skills


·         Thorough understanding of physical database design including triggers, stored procedures, constraints, indexing, and performance tuning


·         Experience implementing OLAP  (MS Analysis Services a plus)


·         Experience implementing ETL processes  (MS Integration Services a plus)


·         Solid understanding of system architecture and software engineering design best practices


·         Flexibility, creativity, and independent thinking


·         Familiarity with typical data analysis techniques (e.g. correlations, time series)


·         Extremely strong interpersonal communication skills


·         Ability to work collaboratively in a very fast-paced, innovative environment


Experience with the Following a Plus


·         MS SQL Server 2008, including replication


·         Programming in Python or C/C++


·         TIBCO Spotfire


·         Statistical packages (R, JMP)
