Hiring Manager Notes:
We are currently looking for a DBA who has both Oracle experience on a Linux platform and DB2 experience on a z/OS platform. The primary role initially will be an Oracle DBA with DB2 as a backup role but could possibly turn into a primary Oracle/DB2 role as well. We are Application DBA's that are involved more with table design/creation and performance tuning as opposed to Operational DBA's that mostly do installs, upgrades and space monitoring etc.
Responsibilities
• General database design/reuse
• Create Logical/Physical Data Models as required
• Create/Maintain database objects (Tables, Indexes, Views, Triggers, Procedures etc...)
• Assist developers with the development of Stored Procedures/Packages
• Research and exploit new database features
• General performance tuning (SQL, PL/SQL Procedures/Functions, Triggers).
• Performance optimization using materialized views, indexing, updating statistics, using hints/profiles and rewriting SQL as required.
• Interpret access paths using explain plan and tune accordingly
• Assist developers with general process design
• Migrate objects/changes throughout the development environments
• Refresh data to support testing efforts as needed
• Ability to create, read and interpret Trace files
• Perform SQL reviews using tracing
• Promote objects/changes to production
• Monitor/Trace to support load testing
• Monitor production databases and resolve performance issues
• Maintain Database utility jobs (Export/Image Copy, Statistics/Runstats, Index Rebuilds etc...)
• Provide after hours on call support as needed
• Develop Unix/Linux shell scripts as required for DB related activities
• Experience with setting up jobs using JCL under TSO/ISPF
• Experience with Oracle SQL*Net client software
• Experience with DB2 Connect client software and Stored Procedure Builder
• Document standards and procedures as required
Required Skills
• 8+ years Oracle and DB2 Database Administration including Data Design, Object Maintenance, and Performance Tuning running on Linux and Mainframe z/OS platforms
• 8+ years Data Warehousing experience
• 6+ years Unix/Linux shell scripting experience.
• 6+ years Mainframe z/OS experience
• 8+ years coding SQL, PL/SQL, Procedures/Functions, Triggers and Packages.
• Excellent design concepts for Dimensional Data modeling, Star Schema/Snowflake schema, Fact and Dimension tables
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
