Position:- Cognos Developer

Duration :- 6months – 1year

Location :- NYC, NY (Need Local)

 

Summary of Position

Design, develop, implement, and maintain Business Intelligence reports and applications using Cognos 8 Business Intelligence tools and Business Objects. Analyze business intelligence requirements and develop BI analytical and reporting solutions based on user needs. Support end user ad hoc reporting using the Cognos BI tool suite including Report Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager, Analysis Studio, and Metrics Studio. Assist in installation, administration, upgrades, documentation, and maintenance of the Cognos system infrastructure.  Work with IT and business users to provide expertise in problem definition, requirements analysis and general design of BI systems.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

·         Design, develop, implement, and maintain Business Intelligence reports and applications using Cognos 8 Business Intelligence tools.

 

·         Work with users to analyze business intelligence requirements and translate them into analytical and reporting solution specifications.

·         Assist in installation, administration, upgrades, documentation, and maintenance of the Cognos system infrastructure

·        

·         Provide support to end users for ad hoc reporting using the Cognos BI tool suite including Report Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager, Analysis Studio, and Metrics Studio

·        

·         Assist in the design and development of OLAP data models and Cognos cubes.

·        

·         Provide production support to various BI applications.

·        

Job Success Criteria

• Successful development, testing, and implementation of Cognos and other BI applications

• Maintaining and support of the BI environments

• Effective support of end user ad hoc reporting

 

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.

• 8 years experience in business intelligence and data warehousing development and support

• In-depth knowledge and at least 5 years (recent) hands-on development and administrative  experience with Cognos

Cognos reporting tool suite versions 7 and 8 (Report Studio, Framework Manager, Analysis Studio, Query Studio, Metrics Studio, Transformer, and PowerPlay.

• 7 to 10 years experience in a Data Warehouse or Business Intelligence environment providing reporting and analytical support to end users.

• Experience with Business Objects a big plus

• Knowledge of Web application server architectures and security systems administration

• Expert knowledge of (SQL) structured query language

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of relational, OLAP, dimensional data models and BI/DW architecture.

• Strong systems design, testing, coding, analysis and debugging skills.

• Strong problem solving, analytical, project management and communication skills.

• Health Care industry experience preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline

• Certification in Cognos BI Server Administration and experience with Cognos Enterprise Planning a plus.
