Job description:
The Quality Engineer/Tester is responsible for all testing activities throughout the software development life cycle. This includes Quality Assurance activities performed during requirements and design phases and Quality Control activities performed during development and testing phases.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop a test strategy based on the project requirements and schedule.
- Design, develop, and execute detail oriented test scripts and test cases using test plans and project specifications.
- Report defects found in testing diligently, promptly, and accurately, using standard defect tracking tools.
- Report test progress against schedules (planning and execution).
- Provide a test summary report that reflects the quality attributes of the software under test.
- Communicate with development, project management, and customer stakeholders where necessary.
- Perform both new functionality and regression tests; identify, analyze and report issues for follow-up.
- Ensure the integrity of test material.
- Work with other departments to monitor and improve quality processes.
- Other duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned.
Requirements and Professional Qualifications:
- Experience testing in a manufacturing environment is ideal.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and judgment skills, and strong ability to understand business process flow
- Knowledge of client-server, stand-alone, java-based software development, and a clear understanding of the role of testing in a software development organization.
- Ability to identify testable statements contained in requirements and specifications documents and devise and run appropriate tests, and have a strong track record as a software defect finder/reporter.
- Strong experience and skills efficiently working with relational databases (such as DB2 and SQL Server) using SQL.
- Strong experience and skill with software test tools, including defect tracking software.
- Must be able to multi-task successfully while meeting project deadlines.
- A positive, quality-oriented, reliable, well organized, and flexible individual with an ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused, dynamic environment.
- Integration testing experience, especially of data feeds to/from multiple technical platforms.
- Ability to learn quickly and effectively and to remain focused in a diverse team environment.
- Experience with Business and QA Testing Process Models.
