Sybase DBA with Sql Exp @ Nashville, TN

Title:                Sybase DBA with Sql Exp

Location:         Nashville, TN

Duration:          12+ Months

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support Development, QA  and Production databases on Sybase and MS SQL.
  • Work with other development team members to develop and implement enhancements to all Company products.
  • Provide in-house and customer support.
  • On call responsibilities during off hours, weekends, and holidays.   Flexibility of working occasional evening/weekend hours if necessary

 

Qualifications:

  • Should be a very good team player.
  • Very strong in Sybase T-SQL programming like writing stored procedures, cursors, triggers and performance tuning
  • Should be able to support high volume transactions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of Sybase database architecture.
  • Strong in using Sybase and MSSQL client utilities like BCP, Defncopy, etc.
  • Very strong in PERL and UNIX Shell scripting.
  • Create and maintain SQL Server maintenance plans (for backup/recovery/optimization) and proactively monitor SQL Servers to ensure secure database services with minimum downtime.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to production SQL Server environment issues and take responsibility for seeing those issues through to resolution. Issues might occur during or after normal business hours.
  • Plan for and install SQL Server and required Updates, Service Packs, Patches, and Hot Fixes to SQL Server environments.
  • Regular and continuous maintenance of highly-available MS SQL Server database
